The concept, to develop a new type of integrated Agri-IT solution that would present a single Internet interface to a farmer to meet all of their Agri IT requirements, won an Invest Northern Ireland SMART award, a scheme setup to help small businesses develop innovative new products and processes.

Terry is not new to farming either, the FarmWizard concept came from assisting his father and brother, dairy farmers from Co Armagh Northern Ireland, to computerise their Milk Production business.

As the project has progressed, it has become apparent that existing Agri-IT software packages available, although of limited use, are not meeting the exacting requirements for today's farmer. The idea of a new type of integrated Agri-IT solution that would present a single Internet interface to a farmer to meet all of their Agri IT requirements has been called FarmWizard.

The Business Plan for Farmwizard written by Terry has also attracted the attention of an English based Internet Entrepreneur, Keith Richmond, with whom Terry had worked with before on a BT project. Keith is the Chairman and founder of KDM International PLC, a market leading timber trading company which developed 2 of the more successful Internet businesses that survived the dotcom downturn. TIMBERWeb® has won many prestigious awards such as the Financial Times Business Web Site 1998 "Site to Watch", Sunday Telegraph/Barclays @chievement Award 2000, Computer Weekly eBusiness Excellence Award 2000 and is a 'BT/Cranfield/Management Today' Vision 100 Company.

In March 2004 Keith agreed to use his experience and knowledge to help Terry develop the FarmWizard business and joined the Board as a non-executive director. He also purchased a 20% holding in FarmWizard Ltd.

Following a successful launch, in Jan 2005 the FarmWizard management team was joined by Mark Elliott an alumni of Greenmount Agricultural College and Harper Adams in Shropshire, Mark has worked in the agricultural supply industry for several years and knows first hand the demanding needs of the modern farmer. Mark has taken on the role as Business Development Manager for FarmWizard.
